Privacy notice
What AssignedHealth is
AssignedHealth is a secure platform your health-care provider uses to assign between-session activities, share documents, and receive what you choose to send back. Your provider — not AssignedHealth — is the health information custodian of your information under Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA). AssignedHealth acts only as their electronic service provider, on their instructions.
What we collect
For providers: name, work email, professional designation, and account credentials. For clients: your name, contact details, the activities your provider assigns, and the responses and files you submit. We also keep an access log (who viewed or changed what, and when) to protect your information.
How it's protected
Your information is stored in Canada, encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is limited to you (via your personal account sign-in) and your provider. We never sell personal information, never use it for advertising, and never use it for any purpose other than providing this service to your provider.
Email and text messages
Messages we send (invites, sign-in reminders, password resets) never contain health information.
Your rights
You may ask your provider to access, correct, or permanently delete your information at any time; deletion removes your tasks, responses, and files from the platform. You can download a copy of your own information anytime from your account ("Download my data"), and providers can correct client details in-app.
How long we keep information
We keep your information only while you (or your provider) use the platform. When a client is deleted, their tasks, responses, and files are permanently removed; encrypted backups age out within 7 days. Access records are kept longer (as required for audit duties) but contain no health content.
Accountability & contact
AssignedHealth's designated privacy contact is John Akinyemi — awsapps@johnakinyemi.com. If you have a question, concern, or complaint about how the platform handles information, contact us and we'll respond promptly; your provider remains your first contact for anything about your care record. You may also contact the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (1-800-387-0073, ipc.on.ca) or, for federal matters, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (1-800-282-1376).
Who processes data on our behalf
Hosting, storage, and email delivery are provided by Amazon Web Services (Canada region, Montréal). No other subprocessor touches your information, and every access is recorded in an audit log your provider can review.
Not for emergencies
This platform isn't monitored in real time. If you're in crisis or it's an emergency, call 9-1-1.
